Most Common Issues (All Types: Window, Portable, Split, Central)

• Not cooling / blowing warm air: Check thermostat set to "cool" and below room temp; clean/replace dirty air filters; ensure outdoor unit is running and not blocked by debris/plants; check for ice on coils (low refrigerant or airflow issue) – turn off to thaw; verify circuit breaker not tripped.
• Unit won't turn on: Confirm power at outlet/breaker; check thermostat batteries or wiring; for window/portable – ensure plug is secure and GFCI not tripped; reset by unplugging 5–10 min.
• Poor airflow / weak cooling: Clean or replace clogged filters monthly; clear blocked vents/registers; ensure doors/windows closed; check for dirty evaporator/condenser coils.
• Constant on/off cycling (short cycling): Dirty filter/coils restricting airflow; oversized unit; low refrigerant; faulty thermostat – clean filters first, then check refrigerant professionally.
• Water leaking / dripping: Clogged condensate drain line (use wet vac to clear); dirty evaporator coil; improper tilt on window units (should slope slightly outward); frozen coils thawing.
• Strange noises (rattling, buzzing, grinding): Loose parts/panels; debris in fan; bent fan blades; low refrigerant causing compressor strain; for portable – check exhaust hose secure.

Common Error Codes (Window, Portable, Mini-Split Models)

• E1 / F1 / FL: Sensor fault (room temp, evaporator, or control board) – check connections; clean sensor; power reset; may need replacement.
• E2 / F2: Evaporator / pipe sensor issue or freeze-up – clean filters, improve airflow; thaw if iced.
• E4 / HS: High pressure / overload – clean outdoor coils/fins; ensure good ventilation; check fan motor.
• U4 / E6 / CH: Communication error (split systems) – check wiring between indoor/outdoor; power reset both units; loose connections common after install/power surge.
• P6 / E5: Compressor / overcurrent protection – low voltage, dirty coils, low refrigerant; professional service needed.

Smart / Inverter Models (2025–2026: LG Dual Inverter, Midea U, Frigidaire Gallery, Windmill)

• Wi-Fi / app issues: Ensure 2.4GHz network; reset unit Wi-Fi (hold button per manual); update app/firmware.
• Unit frozen / ice buildup: Restricted airflow; low refrigerant; run fan-only to thaw; clean filters.
• No response to remote: Replace remote batteries; ensure line-of-sight; try power cycle.
